Bài viết tập trung tìm hiểu quá trình nhập Việt tịch của cộng đồng người Hoa ở miền Nam Việt Nam ở hai giai đoạn 1955-1963 và 1963-1975. Chính quyền Việt Nam Cộng hòa được thành lập ở miền Nam Việt Nam từ năm 1955 bắt đầu đưa ra các biện pháp trên phương diện pháp luật, hành chính nhằm nhanh chóng đưa cộng đồng người Hoa trở thành công dân của Việt Nam Cộng hòa với đầy đủ nghĩa vụ và trách nhiệm của một công dân chính thể cộng hòa. Bài viết khai thác phần lớn tài liệu lưu trữ có liên quan đến các biện pháp của chính quyền Sài Gòn nhằm quản lí quốc tịch của người Hoa thông qua các văn bản luật mà chính quyền Sài Gòn đã ban hành; từ đó, cung cấp nguồn tư liệu đáng tin cậy để nghiên cứu về cộng đồng người Hoa ở Việt Nam hiện nay dưới góc nhìn lịch sử.
