Bài viết lí giải vì sao Mĩ chọn châu Á – Thái Bình Dương để triển khai sức mạnh mềm trong chính sách ngoại giao cũng như trình bày cách thức triển khai sức mạnh mềm của Mĩ tại khu vực này vào đầu thế kỉ XXI thông qua việc thúc đẩy các giá trị dân chủ, nhân quyền, trao đổi văn hóa, giáo dục và xây dựng nền ngoại giao công chúng. Kết quả nghiên cứu cho thấy Mĩ đã biết tận dụng mối quan hệ đến từ lịch sử; luôn chú trọng sự cởi mở và đa dạng; gia tăng sức mạnh qua việc mở rộng hợp tác với các quốc gia cũng như vận hành uyển chuyển các hoạt động quảng bá văn hóa, giáo dục trong việc triển khai sức mạnh mềm. Trong tương lai, sự cạnh tranh sức mạnh mềm mang tính đa phương, các thách thức từ nội tại đất nước và sự phát triển của các công nghệ mới là điều Mĩ phải lưu tâm trong việc triển khai sức mạnh mềm.
