Bài viết đề cập văn hóa trường học (VHTH), đây là vấn đề của giáo dục đương đại và được các nhà quản lí giáo dục quan tâm. Ở Việt Nam, VHTH có ý nghĩa quan trọng trong việc góp phần thúc đẩy đổi mới căn bản, toàn diện giáo dục và đào tạo (GD&ĐT). Có thể nhận thấy các nghiên cứu về VHTH ở Việt Nam tiếp cận VHTH như một cấu trúc văn hóa - xã hội mà chưa được định rõ về bản chất và đặc điểm của nó. Mục đích của bài viết nhằm thông qua mô tả quá trình và lịch sử nghiên cứu VHTH để thấy được sự chuyển biến nhận thức trong nghiên cứu VHTH, từ đó có thể định hình phương pháp nghiên cứu VHTH theo quan điểm hiện đại. Phương pháp khảo cứu tư liệu phân tích - tổng hợp được sử dụng để xác định tính quá trình, mục tiêu, đối tượng và nội dung nghiên cứu về VHTH và những vấn đề đặt ra đối với quản lí VHTH. Kết quả nghiên cứu cũng xác lập những yếu tố quan trọng cho nghiên cứu VHTH trong bối cảnh đổi mới GD&ĐT ở Việt Nam hiện nay.
